Day 02: Amman – Jerash – Ajloun – Dead Sea

Distance : 157 km

Driving Time : 2 Hr 50 min

Overnight : Dead sea

Your first destination will be Jerash, an ancient city renowned as one of Jordan's most popular attractions, second only to Petra. Celebrated for its extraordinary preservation, Jerash stands as one of the largest and best-maintained Roman sites outside Italy, with a history stretching back over 6,500 years. During its golden age under Roman rule, the city was known as Gerasa and flourished as a significant provincial hub. Today, Jerash offers a fascinating glimpse into this bygone era with highlights such as the Jerash Archaeological Museum, the South and North Theatres, the Nymphaeum, the Cathedral, the Colonnaded Street, the Oval Plaza, and the Hippodrome. Each site reflects the grandeur and sophistication of Roman engineering and urban design.

Next, take a picturesque journey north to Ajloun to visit the iconic Ajloun Castle, also known as Qal'at Ar-Rabad. Perched atop the lush hills of Ajloun, this formidable fortress commands stunning views of the surrounding landscape and served as a critical military stronghold from the 12th to the 15th centuries. Constructed in 1184 by Izzeldin Usama, a general of Saladin, the castle played a pivotal role in safeguarding trade routes and defending against Crusader incursions, making it a symbol of resilience and strategic ingenuity.

Your final destination for the day will be the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth and a natural wonder renowned for its therapeutic properties. Here, you’ll unwind by the water’s edge, experiencing the unique sensation of effortlessly floating in its dense, mineral-rich waters. Take the opportunity to indulge in the healing benefits of the Dead Sea mud, celebrated for its rejuvenating properties. As the day winds down, bask in the tranquility of this serene location, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and spending the night by the Dead Sea.

Day 03: : Dead Sea – Petra visit – Wadi Rum visit

Distance : 300km

Driving Time : 4 Hours

Overnight : Wadi Rum

On this day, you will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World—Petra, the rose-red City of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Begin by taking in the captivating splendor of Jordan’s most famous landmark. Your journey will start with a walk through the magnificent Siq, a narrow canyon flanked by towering rocks that serves as the dramatic entrance to Petra. For the first 700 meters, this stunning passageway will lead you to the heart of the ancient city, offering a truly breathtaking experience.

Next, you’ll explore Little Petra (Al Beidha), a fascinating site due to its many similarities to Petra. Like Petra, Al Beidha is built behind a narrow canyon that acts as a passageway into the site. The Cold Siq of Al Beidha is slightly smaller than Petra’s Siq, and visitors will need to hike through it to reach the ruins of Little Petra. The cliffs surrounding the site have been shaped by wind erosion, creating a striking landscape. Many broken tablets discovered here date back to the Neolithic period, providing valuable insights into the region’s ancient past.

Afterward, you’ll continue to Wadi Rum, a stunning desert valley in southern Jordan, famous for its breathtaking red sand dunes, towering rock formations, and vast open landscapes. Here, you’ll experience the magic of the desert, spending a night under the stars. Enjoy a jeep safari tour to explore the desert, taking in the dramatic sunset, followed by a traditional Bedouin party. The evening will culminate with a delicious Bedouin dinner called Zarb, a feast that allows you to immerse yourself in the culture of the desert. Spend the night in a camp, surrounded by the tranquil desert atmosphere, creating lasting memories of your time in this extraordinary landscape.

Day 04: Wadi Rum – Queen Alia International Airport

Distance : 290 km

Driving Time : 3 Hours

We hope you enjoyed your trip to Jordan. You will be driven from Wadi Rum to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. As you return home or continue to your next destination, take a moment to reflect on the invaluable experiences you’ve had while exploring the rich history, culture, and natural beauty of Jordan.

Thank you for your visit, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future! Safe travels!

Essential Travel Tips and FAQs

Driver vs. Guide: Do I Need a Guide?

While your driver may not be a certified guide, they have a great understanding of the country and its traditions, and they can share some wonderful insights about the places you'll explore. For important sites like Jerash and Petra, we'll make sure to provide a local certified guide to enhance your experience. If you'd love to have a professional guide accompanying you throughout your entire adventure, we can gladly arrange that for an extra fee!"
