Day 02: Amman – Jerash Visit - Ajloun Visit - Amman

Distance : 136.3 KM

Driving Time : 2 hr 47 min

Overnight : Amman

Today, embark on a fascinating tour to northern Jordan. Your first destination will be the ancient city of Jerash, one of the most well-preserved Roman sites outside of Italy, with a history that stretches over 6,500 years. Known as Gerasa during Roman rule, Jerash is renowned for its monumental structures, including the Jerash Archaeological Museum, South Theatre, North Theatre, Nymphaeum, Cathedral, Colonnaded Street, Oval Plaza, and Hippodrome.

After exploring Jerash, you'll head to Ajloun Castle (Qal'at Ar-Rabad), a 12th-century fortress built by one of Saladin's generals to defend against Crusader forces. Located high above the hills, the castle offers breathtaking panoramic views and provides a glimpse into Jordan's medieval history.

After a full day of exploration, you'll return to your hotel in Amman for a well-deserved overnight stay.

Day 03: Amman – Madaba – Mount Nebo – Baptism Site -Dead Sea

Distance : 96.4 KM

Driving Time : 2 Hr

Overnight : Dead Sea

Today, your journey takes you through some of Jordan's most significant religious sites.

Start with a visit to Madaba, often referred to as the "City of Mosaics." Madaba is known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, with highlights including St. George’s Church, home to the famous 6th-century mosaic map of Palestine. This map is one of the oldest and most valuable pieces of early Christian art, offering crucial insights into the region’s history.

Next, head to Mount Nebo, the highest point in the ancient Kingdom of Moab. According to Abrahamic texts, it is here that Moses viewed the Promised Land before passing away. The site offers stunning views and a deep connection to religious history. The town surrounding Mount Nebo has been inhabited since the 4th century by a Christian nomadic tribe, adding further significance to this sacred place.

You will then visit the Baptism Site, known as "Bethany Beyond Jordan," which is believed to be the location where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a pilgrimage destination for many, offering a spiritual connection to biblical events. It is a meaningful stop for visitors seeking both historical insights and a chance to reflect on their faith.

End your day at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Here, you can relax by the shore, experience the healing properties of the mineral-rich mud, and float effortlessly in the saline waters. The therapeutic benefits of the Dead Sea are renowned, making it the perfect place to unwind. Spend the night at your hotel by the Dead Sea, enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Day 04: Dead Sea – Shobak Castle - Petra

Distance : 279.1 KM

Driving Time : 4 hr 25 min

Today, your journey takes you south to explore the historic Shobak Castle, a Crusader fortress built in 1115. This castle played a significant role as a military stronghold during the Crusader period before being taken over by the Ayyubid, Mamluk, and Ottoman empires. The castle’s medieval architecture and panoramic views make it a fascinating site to explore, offering a glimpse into the region's layered history, from Crusader times to later empires.

After your visit to Shobak Castle, continue your journey to Petra, the legendary rose-red city. Settle in for an overnight stay in Petra, allowing you to rest and prepare for the following day's exploration of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Day 05:  Petra Visit & Wadi Rum

Distance : 104.6 KM

This first 700 meters of your journey will build anticipation for the breathtaking sight that awaits you.

Next, you'll explore Little Petra (Beidha), a smaller but equally captivating archaeological site. Similar to Petra, Little Petra is hidden behind a narrow canyon and offers a unique experience, with cliffs eroded by the wind and many ancient broken tablets dating back to the Neolithic period.

Later, continue your adventure by heading to Wadi Rum, a mesmerizing desert valley renowned for its vast open landscapes, red sand dunes, and towering rock formations. Here, you’ll embark on a jeep safari and witness a stunning desert sunset. To top off the experience, enjoy a traditional Bedouin dinner known as Zarb, and spend the night at a camp under the stars, immersing yourself in the true desert vibe.

Essential Travel Tips and FAQs

Driver vs. Guide: Do I Need a Guide?

While your driver may not be a certified guide, they have a great understanding of the country and its traditions, and they can share some wonderful insights about the places you'll explore. For important sites like Jerash and Petra, we'll make sure to provide a local certified guide to enhance your experience. If you'd love to have a professional guide accompanying you throughout your entire adventure, we can gladly arrange that for an extra fee!"

Passport/Visa Information To Travel to Jordan

Make sure your passport is valid and has at least six months remaining before it expires beyond your trip's end date. Most visitors can easily purchase a Tourist Visa upon arrival at any airport, port, or border—except for the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge border, where you'll need to arrange your visa in advance.
Depending on your nationality, you might have to obtain your visa before your arrival, so it’s a good idea to check the latest requirements at www.visitjordan.com or get in touch with your local Jordanian Embassy.

A single-entry visa costs JD40, but with Adore Jordan visa fees are already included in all our packages for free as long as you provide your passport details ahead of time!
