At first, you will visit Tel Mar Elias, commonly known as the home of the prophet Elijah, is a site that consists of incredible archaeological ruins of two Byzantine churches that are situated on the top of a hill overlooking vast greenery and hilly landscapes. The churches’ floors include beautiful mosaics of floral and geometric patterns. The site also includes remains of historic tomb chambers and a baptistery that one can also explore.
Then transfer to Ajloun castle: more formally known as Qal'at Ar-Rabad, towers above the green hills of Ajloun and can be seen from many miles away, betraying its strategic purpose asa military watch post that protected the trade routes in the 12th-15th centuries. It was first built in 1184 by one of Saladin's generals, Izzeldin Usama, to repel the Crusader threats to north Jordan.
Also, you will visit Anjara; It is believed that Jesus Christ, his disciples, and the Virgin Mary passed through Anjara in the hills of Gilead once and rested in a cave there during a journey between the Sea of Galilee, the Decapolis Cities, Bethany Beyond the Jordan and Jerusalem. The cave in Anjara has long been a holy place for pilgrims and has now been commemorated with a modern shrine, the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain. The cave was also designated by the Catholic Churches of the Middle East as one of the five pilgrimage sites for the year 2000.
Later you will visit Jerash:The ancient city of Jerash is one of the most popular attractions in Jordan behind Petra. It is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the world outside of Italy and its history goes back more than 6,500 years. The city's golden age came under Roman rule, during which time it was known as Gerasa, and the site is now generally acknowledged to be one of the best-preserved Roman provincial towns in the world, In Jerash you will explore Jerash Archaeological Museum, south theatre, north theatre, nymphaeum, cathedral, colonnaded street, oval plaza, hippodrome.
Spend the night in your hotel in Amman!
Day 03: Amman – Madaba – Mount Nebo - Fortress of Machaerus - Baptism site – Elijah’s Hill - Petra overnight
Distance : 390 km
Driving Time : 5 Hours
Overnight : Petra
On this day, embark on a fascinating journey through Jordan's rich history and religious heritage. Your adventure begins with a visit to Madaba, a charming city known as the "City of Mosaics" for its remarkable collection of Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Just a short drive from Amman, Madaba offers a unique blend of rural life and religious significance, providing the perfect opportunity to explore ancient works of art and historic monuments. While in Madaba, make sure to visit St. George's Church, a modest 19th-century Greek Orthodox church that holds a treasure of early Christian history. In 1884, Christian builders discovered the remnants of a Byzantine church during construction, revealing one of the oldest maps of Palestine still in existence—a remarkable mosaic that remains a significant piece of historical art and offers invaluable insights into the region's past.
Next, head to Mount Nebo, the highest point in the ancient Kingdom of Moab. According to Abrahamic texts, this is the place where Moses is believed to have viewed the Holy Land before his death. From the summit, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the region, giving you a chance to reflect on the religious and historical significance of this sacred site.
Also, make a trip to Mukawir; Mukawir, also known as Machaerus, is a fortified palace that overlooks the iconic Dead Sea. Although little remains of this regal landmark today, visitors can still explore the Roman baths and castle walls that contributed to its defence system.
Now you will visit a Christian pilgrimage site! (Baptism Site); Home to several biblical cities including Sodom, Gomorrah, and Zoar, the archaeological discoveries between the Jordan River and Tal al-Kharrar have identified this area as Biblical “Bethany Beyond the Jordan.” The area is where John was living when he baptized Jesus.
You will take a tour in Elijah’s Hill; One of the most important sites of the Baptism Site is Elijah’s Hill, the place where Elijah ascended to heaven in the 9th century BC. The Bible states that Elijah would return before the coming of Jesus, so when John the Baptist began baptizing people there it caused a huge stir in the surrounding villages. The villagers came to inquire whether or not he was their messiah. He replied, “I am a crying voice in the wilderness, preparing the way of the Lord”.
Spend the night in your hotel in Petra!
Day 02: Petra – Petra visit – Wadi Rum Visit
Distance : 104.6 KM

On this day, prepare for an unforgettable journey to explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World—Petra! Your adventure begins as you immerse yourself in the captivating beauty of Jordan's most famous landmark, the rose-red City of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As you walk through the Siq, a narrow canyon flanked by towering rocks, you’ll be swept away by the dramatic entrance to Petra, which stretches for the first 700 meters of your journey, building anticipation for what lies ahead.
Next, you’ll explore Little Petra (Beidha), a fascinating archaeological site that shares many similarities with Petra. Al Beidha is located behind a narrow canyon, much like Petra itself, and you’ll have the opportunity to hike through the Cold Siq, a smaller version of Petra’s Siq, to reach the ruins. The cliffs surrounding the site have been shaped by wind erosion, and many broken tablets discovered here date back to the Neolithic period, offering a glimpse into the ancient past.
Afterward, you’ll continue your journey to Wadi Rum, a stunning desert valley in southern Jordan. Known for its breathtaking red sand dunes, towering rock formations, and vast, open landscapes, Wadi Rum will leave you in awe. In the evening, indulge in a traditional Bedouin dinner, known as Zarb, and immerse yourself in the desert atmosphere.
As the day comes to a close, spend the night under the stars in a desert camp, where you’ll create lasting memories of your time in this remarkable and serene desert landscape.
