Day 02: Amman - Petra visit - Wadi Rum visit - Wadi Rum overnigh
Distance : 360 km
Driving Time : 4 Hr 50 min
Overnight : Wadi Rum
On this day, you will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World—Petra, the rose-red City of
Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Begin by taking in the captivating splendor of Jordan’s
most famous landmark. Your journey will start with a walk through the magnificent Siq, a
narrow canyon flanked by towering rocks that serves as the dramatic entrance to Petra. For the
first 700 meters, this stunning passageway will lead you to the heart of the ancient city,
offering a truly breathtaking experience.
Next, you’ll explore Little Petra (Al Beidha), a fascinating site due to its many similarities to
Petra. Like Petra, Al Beidha is built behind a narrow canyon that acts as a passageway into the
site. The Cold Siq of Al Beidha is slightly smaller than Petra’s Siq, and visitors will need to hike
through it to reach the ruins of Little Petra. The cliffs surrounding the site have been shaped by
wind erosion, creating a striking landscape. Many broken tablets discovered here date back to
the Neolithic period, providing valuable insights into the region’s ancient past.
Afterward, you’ll continue to Wadi Rum, a stunning desert valley in southern Jordan, famous for
its breathtaking red sand dunes, towering rock formations, and vast open landscapes. Here,
you’ll experience the magic of the desert, spending a night under the stars. Enjoy a jeep safari
tour to explore the desert, taking in the dramatic sunset, followed by a traditional Bedouin
party. The evening will culminate with a delicious Bedouin dinner called Zarb, a feast that
allows you to immerse yourself in the culture of the desert. Spend the night in a camp,
surrounded by the tranquil desert atmosphere, creating lasting memories of your time in this
extraordinary landscape.
Day 03: Wadi Rum - Madaba - Nebo -Baptism Site - Dead Sea
Distance : 330km
Driving Time : 4 Hours
Overnight : Dead Sea
Today’s tour begins with a visit to Madaba, a town that beautifully blends rural life with
religious significance. Known as the "City of Mosaics," Madaba is a cultural hub for Byzantine
and Umayyad mosaics. Located just a short distance from the capital, it offers visitors a unique
opportunity to explore both its rich historical heritage and its religious landmarks.
Your first stop in Madaba will be St. George’s Church, a modest 19th-century Greek Orthodox
church that houses one of the most remarkable treasures of early Christianity: the famous
Madaba Map. This ancient mosaic is the oldest known map of the Holy Land, offering a
fascinating glimpse into the region’s history.
Next, you’ll visit Mount Nebo, the highest point in the ancient Kingdom of Moab. Revered in
Abrahamic texts, Mount Nebo is believed to be the site where Moses viewed the Holy Land
before his death. "And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of
Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho." Explore the religious significance of this site and enjoy its
panoramic views, where the biblical connection to Moses is felt deeply.
Following Mount Nebo, you'll visit the Baptism Site, also known as "Bethany Beyond Jordan."
This sacred area, located along the Jordan River and near Tal al-Kharrar, is where John the
Baptist is believed to have baptized Jesus. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the
Baptism Site draws pilgrims from around the world, offering a deeply spiritual connection to
biblical times. It’s a place where visitors can reflect on the historical and religious importance of
this location, and some even choose to be baptized here, just as Jesus was.
After your spiritual journey through these sacred sites, you’ll head to the Dead Sea for a
relaxing overnight stay, where you can unwind and reflect on the rich history and spiritual
experiences of the day.
