Day 02: Amman – Petra visit – Wadi Rum Visit
Distance : 339 km
Driving Time : 4 Hours
Overnight : Wadi Rum
On this day, prepare for an unforgettable journey to explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World—Petra! Your adventure begins as you immerse yourself in the captivating beauty of Jordan's most famous landmark, the rose-red City of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As you walk through the Siq, a narrow canyon flanked by towering rocks, you’ll be swept away by the dramatic entrance to Petra, which stretches for the first 700 meters of your journey, building anticipation for what lies ahead.
Next, you’ll explore Little Petra (Beidha), a fascinating archaeological site that shares many similarities with Petra. Al Beidha is located behind a narrow canyon, much like Petra itself, and you’ll have the opportunity to hike through the Cold Siq, a smaller version of Petra’s Siq, to reach the ruins. The cliffs surrounding the site have been shaped by wind erosion, and many broken tablets discovered here date back to the Neolithic period, offering a glimpse into the ancient past.
Afterward, you’ll continue your journey to Wadi Rum, a stunning desert valley in southern Jordan. Known for its breathtaking red sand dunes, towering rock formations, and vast, open landscapes, Wadi Rum will leave you in awe. Enjoy a thrilling jeep safari as you explore the desert and witness the beauty of the sunset, painting the sky in shades of orange and red. In the evening, indulge in a traditional Bedouin dinner, known as Zarb, and immerse yourself in the desert atmosphere.
As the day comes to a close, spend the night under the stars in a desert camp, where you’ll create lasting memories of your time in this remarkable and serene desert landscape.
Day 03: Wadi Rum – Madaba – Mount Nebo – Dead Sea
Distance : 352 km
Driving Time : 4 Hours
Overnight : Dead Sea
On this day, embark on a fascinating journey through Jordan's rich history and religious heritage. Your adventure begins with a visit to Madaba, a charming city known as the "City of Mosaics" for its remarkable collection of Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Just a short drive from Amman, Madaba offers a unique blend of rural life and religious significance, providing the perfect opportunity to explore ancient works of art and historic monuments.
While in Madaba, make sure to visit St. George's Church, a modest 19th-century Greek Orthodox church that holds a treasure of early Christian history. In 1884, Christian builders discovered the remnants of a Byzantine church during construction, revealing one of the oldest maps of Palestine still in existence—a remarkable mosaic that remains a significant piece of historical art and offers invaluable insights into the region's past.
Next, head to Mount Nebo, the highest point in the ancient Kingdom of Moab. According to Abrahamic texts, this is the place where Moses is believed to have viewed the Holy Land before his death. From the summit, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the region, giving you a chance to reflect on the religious and historical significance of this sacred site.
The final stop of the day is the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. Famous for its mineral-rich mud, the Dead Sea offers a unique and therapeutic experience. Spend the day relaxing by the sea, floating effortlessly in its saline waters, and enjoying the natural healing properties of the Dead Sea. As the day draws to a close, you’ll spend the night at the Dead Sea, taking in the tranquility of this remarkable and serene location.
Day 04: Dead Sea – Jerash Visit - Ajloun Visit - Amman
Distance : 70 km
Driving Time : 1 Hr 50 min
Overnight : Amman
Today’s tour will begin with a visit to Jerash, one of the most popular attractions in Jordan and regarded as one of the largest and best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in the world outside of Italy. With a history that spans over 6,500 years, the city’s golden age flourished under Roman rule, when it was known as Gerasa. You’ll start by exploring the Jerash Archaeological Museum, which offers fascinating insights into the city’s rich past. From there, visit the South Theatre, a stunning Roman structure that once accommodated 3,000 spectators, and the North Theatre, another magnificent example of Roman architecture. The Nymphaeum, a grand fountain dedicated to the nymphs, showcases the brilliance of Roman engineering, while the Cathedral offers a glimpse into the Byzantine era. As you stroll down the Colonnaded Street, you’ll be captivated by the impressive rows of columns that define this main thoroughfare. The Oval Plaza, a circular space surrounded by columns, provides a sense of the grandeur of Roman urban design, and the Hippodrome, once used for chariot races, adds an element of ancient spectacle to your visit.
After exploring Jerash, you’ll head to Ajloun Castle, also known as Qal'at Ar-Rabad, which sits perched above the green hills of Ajloun. This strategic military watch post, built in 1184 to protect northern Jordan from Crusader threats, offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and provides a fascinating glimpse into the region’s medieval history. After a day full of historical exploration, you’ll return to Amman for an overnight stay, reflecting on the incredible sights and experiences you’ve encountered.
Day 05: Amman - Queen Alia International Airport
Distance : 36 km
